The pillars of the Maine woods, made by hand signed by L. Farrell
This one-of-a-kind 8" × 8" wall hanging combines my hand-tooled and dyed leather artwork with my handwoven wool, raised here on my farm in Maine.
Four individual leather scenes feature a whitetail deer, black bear, red fox and moose. Each is carved into leather, tooled by hand and individually colored, then hand stitched onto the green and black woven wool panel.
The combination of the detailed leather work and raised woven wool creates lots of texture and dimension. The four small wildlife scenes almost feel like little windows into the woods.
The weaving is mounted on a fabric-covered 8" × 8" base and is ready to hang.
Made entirely by hand in my Maine studio. There will never be another one exactly like it.
